According to the International Labor Organization the business of human trafficking globally generates an estimated $150 billion in profits annually. This is the equivalent to the entire net worth of McDonald’s being generated per year by criminal organizations.
1 OUT OF 3 VICTIMS ARE CHILDREN
According to UNODC’s 2020 Global Report on Trafficking in Persons which is compiled using official figures from over 148 countries, one in every three victims detected is a child. 40.3 MILLION VICTIMS
The International Labor Organization estimates that 40.3 million men, women and children are subjected to human trafficking per year. However this comes from research data and the true figure is likely far higher than the current estimates.
SOLD EVERY 30 SECONDS
There are more humans being sold today in the world than at any other point in human history. The US Presidents Advisory Council estimates that every 30 seconds another child becomes a victim of human trafficking across the globe.
SECOND TO THE DRUG TRADE
Based off research from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, human trafficking is listed as the fastest growing criminal industry in the world today, surpassing in value the illegal arms industry and only second to the drug trade.
52.1% CASES INVOLVING MINORS
